Selecting
a frame - Some considerations:
Appearance - The frame should enhance the work, not compete with it
Protection
- The frame should offer the required protection from light, mishaps
etc.
Surroundings - To be considered but not at the
expense of the painting.
Matting - Provides a space for the eyes to
rest between frame and picture and
serves as a spacer allowing for changes due to variations in humidity.
Details - Other details can be added such as fillets, beveled mat treatments,
creative window openings, specialty papers and fabric mats are all options.
Glazing - Many variations are available, among them are; regular glass, anti
reflective and non-glare .UV filtering and non-glare acrylic products
are also an option.
Mounting - Dry or wet mounting will bond
the picture to board and is good for photographs or posters. For more
valuable pieces hinging or archival
corners are the recommended method.
Selecting the Framer - The most
important consideration. NEXT
